Ruth Hartford

Biography

Ruth Hartford, Calgary artist, began her artistic journey more than 30 years ago when she took her first painting class. At that time she painted exclusively in oils.
She is mostly self-taught but has taken classes with accomplished artists in Calgary and Red Deer. She has also taken advantage of learning from other artists who she has contact with around the world. Their generosity and encouragement has fired up her passion to create art to this day.
Watercolour has become her favourite medium even though it is forever challenging.
The magic that happens as water and paint mingle on paper fascinate her. To her painting is indeed a joy as her creative journey unfolds.
Ruth is a member of the Calgary Sketch Club.
